Installation
Installation view "BGM", solo exhibition. One of the works is "Evening view" which consists of a stage lighting imitating late afternoon sun, and sounds imitating crows' call. It creates nostalgic feel in the space in which three video works, the stuffs used in the shoots and photos are exhibited. Each work focuses on the existence of the story linked with our daily life and changes the borderline between reality and fake into ambiguity. Each story overlapping and crossing in the space creates actual chaos originally unorganized.

On a sunny day a man wearing a rainwear is kept pouring over with a water can by another man as if it rained at the point where he is. This work examines the relationship between a story shared with the limited people and a circumstance not shared with the story. I look for valid range of stories difficult to be shared and isolated in the real society.

This video work is a mix of a documentary and a drama about a middle-aged guy's dream. Two guys made a cardboard car and acted in the car. When one of the guys was drunk in the dinner scene, he suddenly started to talk about his dream. The conversation about his dream was transcribed and he portrayed a character of 'himself' in the cardboard car made by himself at the end. He was a non professional actor and performed in the fake handmade car though the lines were transcribed from his story of his real dream. I describe acting replaces reality, or real meaning of his words are distorted by a filer, acting, and the borderline between reality and fake change into ambiguity.

I asked an engaged couple to shoot their daily life from getting up in the morning to going to bed without telling the details. After watching the shots, I made an story of them in an absurd set-up and wrote the script, then they narrated it. Although the story is seemingly far different from the reality, it is based on interviewing them previously and linked to their reality in some pivotal points. That makes them empathize with the story easily. Their narration drastically changes the daily scenes they shot as their reality, at the same time, it highlights the existence of the story next to the reality.
